Mr.Morale & The Big Steppers was released on May 13, 2022 as a double album, it is the fifth and final studio album that Lamar released with Top Dawg Entertainment. Before its release the CEO for TDE was teasing it, telling people to be patient for Kendrick will be back soon. Kendrcik Labar released a new website named oklama.com where he teased his return, after a four year hiatus. He explains in this site, that this would be his last album with TDE after 17 years of working with them. One week later his cousin Baby Keem released a song that Kendrick was featured on called "Family Ties."
Just 6 days before the album release, on May 8, 2022, Kendrick released 'The Heart Part 5', alongside a music video with his face transforming into many different artist. As time passed by Kendrick constantly was dropping teasers for the album, hyping it up so that fans get excited about the work about to be released.
The album is about, Kendrick's journey through therapy, analyzing and reflecting on his life experiences, while eventually finding peace with himself.
